Open Beta: the ash is falling

2026-10-31

Welcome to the Open Beta of Cinders of Chaos, a dark fantasy world on the classic top-down hunt-and-loot game, with the depth of an action RPG: seven classes, a huge passive tree, rolled gear, crafting orbs, rifts, raids and seasons.

This is a beta. Progress may be wiped at any time, and characters, items, gold, Chaos Coins and the market will most likely be wiped before launch. Play to try everything and to break it, not to keep it.

Beta test coins: your account gets 5,000 Chaos Coins at the first login of its first new character, once per account, so you can try every store feature. Donations are off in the beta, and the test coins and everything bought with them are wiped at launch.

Found a bug? Use System > Report a Bug in the game, or tell us on our Discord. Report a player with right-click > Report Player. Every report is read.

The older notes in this window are from the closed test. They describe the same game, so they are kept as history.

New

  • Seven classes, fourteen ascensions. Warrior, Ranger, Mystic and Thief for everyone; Necromancer, Monk and Templar unlock for the whole account in the store. At level 100 the Ascendant Oracle sets the trial for your ascension: two paths per class, from the Juggernaut tank to the Illusionist support.
  • A gentle start. A tutorial island where nobody dies, a starter kit for your class, gifts at levels 20, 50, 100 and 200, the Town Portal from level 1 and, if you like, a mentor (Social > Mentors) up to level 79.
  • Builds. A passive tree of over 600 nodes with class sections and keystones, Paragon levels after 1000, spell supports, Vocation Trials, build codes to share, and Loadouts to switch between whole builds (Character menu).
  • Items. Rarities from Common to Transcendent, item levels, prefixes and suffixes in tiers, legendary powers, veiled modifiers, uniques, item sets, gems and sockets, charms and two ring slots. Bows and crossbows need no arrows, and quivers go in the off-hand.
  • Crafting. Fourteen orbs on the Crafting Bench (Economy > Crafting Bench), item quality, bound modifiers, salvage into Rune Shards, the crafting tables, and the Gambler's sealed gear next to the main temple.
  • Rifts. Use a Rift Key for a 10-minute run with modifiers, alone or with up to four friends. Seal it for a chest and better keys, grow your Rift Atlas, bind Omen Keys, and climb to the Ascended Omens and the Cinderheart.
  • More to fight. The Ember Descent (a roguelike trial), the Ashen Sepulchre (a weekly raid for 5 to 15 players), world bosses at the temple portals, the Infinity Tower, dungeons, invasions, the bounty board, the bestiary with kill tasks, and a community goal at the Great Brazier. See Adventure > Boss Spawns for every boss.
  • Factions. Four factions with reputation, daily and weekly contracts, quartermasters, titles, auras and mounts.
  • PvP. The ranked arena (1v1, 2v2 and 3v3), the Ember Wells battleground, the Scorched Marches open PvP zone, the weekly guild siege on Saturday at 20:00, and guild wars declared in game.
  • Guilds and friends. Guild levels, guild halls, a weekly guild boss, the Party Finder, personal hideouts, and over 150 achievements with titles and cosmetics.
  • Economy. A player market for gold and Chaos Coins with price history, the Orb Exchange, depot tabs, four gathering professions and the Material Broker. The store sells no gear.
  • Seasons. The Season of Ash brings fresh season characters, Self-Found and Hardcore modes, a Seasonal Journey and a season pass. Adventure > Season shows when it opens.
  • Quality of life. Hunt Tracker, DPS meter, loot filter with sounds, names over loot on the ground, rich item tooltips, item links in chat, and a window for every system in the top menu: you never need to type a command.
  • Help us test in groups. Rifts, Omens and the Ascended bosses with a full party, the raid, the Ember Descent with friends, 5v5 battlegrounds, and bounty and bestiary kills shared in a party. Tell us what felt wrong, too easy or too hard.
