Rules
Rules of the broken worldThese rules keep the game fair and fun. By playing on Cinders of Chaos you accept them. Staff decide every case; punishments go from a warning to a permanent ban, depending on how serious the offence is and how often it happens. This page can be edited by the staff in the admin panel (Pages, "rules").
1. Names
1.1 Character, guild and house names must not be offensive, sexual, racist, political or religious insults, or pretend to belong to staff.
1.2 No names of real people, brands, or other games' trademarks.
1.3 Staff may rename or lock a character with a bad name.
2. Fair play
2.1 Do not use or spread bugs, exploits or glitches. Report them to the staff instead (System > Report a Bug). A bug you report yourself is never punished, and a useful report may be rewarded.
2.2 No cheating programs, bots, macros or modified clients that play for you or give you an unfair edge. The game's own tools (hunt tracker, loot filter, autoloot, auto seller) are allowed. The official client's helper (healing, spell rules, auto rotation, targeting) is allowed while you play. Leaving it running for hours with nobody at the keyboard counts as botting (7.4).
2.3 Multi-client: follow the in-game multi-client rules. Extra characters get no rewards from bosses, bounties or leaderboards.
2.4 Do not manipulate the leaderboards, the arena rating or the guild siege (trading wins, feeding kills, boosting with alts).
2.5 Season characters must not receive anything from standard characters by any trick.
3. Behaviour
3.1 Be respectful in every channel, in private messages and on our community spaces. No harassment, threats, hate speech or spam.
3.2 No advertising of other games, servers or websites.
3.3 Do not pretend to be a member of the staff.
3.4 Never ask for, or share, account names, passwords or recovery keys. Staff will never ask for your password.
4. Trading and accounts
4.1 Selling or buying accounts, characters, items or gold for real money outside the official store is not allowed.
4.2 Scams are your own risk in game, but scams using bugs, fake staff messages or impersonation are punished.
4.3 You are responsible for your account and everything done on it. Sharing it is at your own risk.
5. Player killing
5.1 Killing other players is part of the game, inside the rules of the server's PvP system and skulls.
5.2 Blocking spawns, quest rooms or boss portals on purpose for long periods to ruin other players' game is not allowed.
6. Staff
6.1 Follow the instructions of the staff. If you disagree with a decision, appeal calmly on our Discord, in the appeals channel, never in public channels. An administrator who did not give the penalty reads it. One appeal per penalty; that answer is final.
6.2 Staff never ask for your password and never give items, gold or coins to players.
6.3 The staff may change these rules at any time; the version on this page is the one that counts.
7. Penalties
Counted per account over 90 days. Serious cases can skip steps. "Permanent" means the account stays banned.
7.1 Spam, flood, insults in public chat: warning, then mute 60 minutes, then mute 24 hours, then ban 7 days.
7.2 Harassment, hate speech, threats: mute 24 hours, then ban 7 days, then ban 30 days, then permanent.
7.3 Scam (proven trade or market fraud): ban 7 days (the items or gold returned where possible), then ban 30 days, then permanent.
7.4 Botting or macros (confirmed): ban 7 days and the botted gain removed, then ban 30 days, then permanent. The helper left running with nobody at the keyboard (2.2): a warning the first time, then this same ladder.
7.5 Exploiting a bug for gain without reporting it: ban 7 days and the gain removed, then ban 30 days, then permanent.
7.6 Duplicating items or currency, a third-party client, attacks on the server: permanent, the gain removed.
7.7 Impersonating staff: ban 7 days, then permanent.
7.8 Real-money trading of characters or items: ban 30 days and the traded goods removed, then permanent.
7.9 Chargeback fraud (disputing your own donation to keep the Chaos Coins, or donating with someone else's payment method without permission): the Chaos Coins taken back and what they bought removed, the account locked until the dispute is settled; fraud again: permanent, decided by an administrator. A dispute in good faith (coins that never arrived, a payment charged twice) is not fraud. See the Donation Terms, section 6.
